Spring Concert

Yeah, ok. If you have watched those videos(links are directly above), you have probably had to make a potty run. Now that your back... LOL I hope you enjoyed.

Here is the thing... I was starting to worry about my girls confidence. We had a couple little incidences where "mean girls" were involved. They grated on me and made me start to worry. My girl definitely does not fit in the box, but she is not completely out of the box either. So she floats in the space where... some try to shove her in the box.. and others embrace and love the part out and part in the box.. amazing individual girl she is. Anyways, I think that as a mom I was over-thinking things and our girl is just fine as the video kinda shows.... ROTFL  STILL!!! my eyes water and giggles sneak up from the pits of my body when I think of my girl catching that microphone and using it... LOL  Nope. Lots of other things to worry bout, confidence, I don't think is really one of them. And to think, if you had told me in September that my daughter would sing "down by the bay" and "you are my sunshine" and dance the chicken dance by April... I would have laughed at you. She has come a long way in a short time... One Amazing little, big girl. Keep your eye on her... who knows where this wild ride we call life will take us...

Gymnastics Finale tomorrow.... wonder where it shall take us??? Only tomorrow knows... gnighty.

Borrowed from Facebook, in order to make it Pin able! :)

Just because I think this is a good idea :) And Facebook is not pin able. Not my recipes, I have not tried them.. but I am very tempted to. Imagine, you can control how salty it is.. or how garlic-y! Love it! (and yes, I have been watching a lot of homesteading posts)

This is another one of those recipes a friend shared so grab it now...you will not find it in our pinterest boards! (unless I can find it somewhere else)
Make your own Ranch, Dry Onion Soup Mix and Taco Seasoning and store in small mason jars.

Taco Seasoning:

1/2 cup chili powder
1/4 cup onion powder
1/8 cup ground cumin
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon sea salt
Put ingredients into a jar and shake.

Dry Onion Soup Mix:
2/3 cup dried, minced onion
3 teaspoons parsley flakes
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons turmeric
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
Mix all ingredients in a jar, then give the jar a good shake. I’d recommend shaking the jar to mix the ingredients well before each use.
Use 4 tablespoons in a recipe in place of 1 packet of onion soup mix. Store this in a dry, cool place.

Ranch:
5 tablespoons dried minced onions
7 teaspoons parsley flakes
4 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Mix together and store in an air tight container.
For dressing: Mix 2 tablespoons dry mix with 1 cup mayonnaise and 1 cup buttermilk or sour cream.
For dip: Mix 2 tablespoons dry mix with 2 cups sour cream.
Mix up a few hours before serving, so the flavors all blend.

Baking...

Buns, James did most of the making of these.(2 weeks ago)
My first ever loaves of bread :) (2 weeks ago, same day as buns above)
Whole wheat buns (1 week ago, also made white loaves again)
Brown rice Krispie, Rice Krispie squares... mmmmm Took to school to celebrate Gwyn's not fighting to get ready to go!
Nova Scotia Oatmeal Rolls made in loaves.. mmmm good!!(Yesterday)
Cinnamon Scuffles - Not as good at my MIL's and will never be THAT good.. but not too bad :) (today)
Well, between the weather and the overwhelming feeling that you need to do more.. .LOL James and I tried making our own buns. YUM! So I made loaves. YUM! then the next week I tried Whole Wheat buns! YUM! and more white loaves because we ate all the previous loaves between sharing and such. Then yesterday I tried the oatmeal loaves.. YUM! and the cinnamon scuffles. :) I have been enjoying baking but what else do you do when there is 4ft snowbanks around yet at almost the end of April??? Where is spring hiding this year? Aw well.. Gwyn and I made the scuffles up this morning and baked them.. now we are going to do some cookies and a hand print hanging hopefully :)

In other news.. our puppies now have a fence....
There is a gate on the pen. It was just plywood screwed up there at the point this pic was taken. I really like how it has turned out. I will admit I was a little concerned at how it might look... but I like it.
Gwyn had to get in and help daddy! She can be a great helper! (as long as her ears are working, and she hasn't left them in the other room!)

While helping daddy, Gwyn drew a mailbox... I think she did very well!!

And that is about all I have to share at the moment. We have a very busy week coming up.. Monday is the last gymnastics class of the winter session, Tuesday is show and tell and Grandma is hopefully traveling out. Weds is the Spring concert at school. Thursday & Friday are fairly quiet. A birthday on Saturday and Gymnastics season Finale on Sunday! Monday we start spring session Gymnastics! Yay! Busy but all good!

Bitching and Complaining!! Wait... I had a Great Easter!

Yes, I had a great Easter. With my mom and dad, and my sisters, my nephew and my daughter...my brother in law... LOL and missing my husband. Well, somebody had to stay home and look after the dogs, and the rabbit!! Good grief!!!

The Easter bunny spoiled Gwyn. But, it's good. She only wanted to come home. Missing her daddy. I would have brought her home if I hadn't had something to do in town on Tuesday that couldn't wait or be done at home... oh well.

So.. Easter was the good part. I'm tired of making so many miles to the city, much as I love my family I feel like I do A LOT of driving. I used to enjoy driving a lot more. I still don't mind it.. but find I do a lot of it.

So, bitching and complaining....Well... I took my van for an oil change... in the drive through lane.. that took an hour!!!! An HOUR!!! So, here I am.. with Gwyn(very busy 4 year old, can not sit still) and her Grandma.. waiting for an hour.... sure makes me wonder if I should take it back there.... *shaking head* rather ridiculous if you ask me!!!

Then, when leaving town today... I must say this isn't the first time this has happened.. but it will be the last time I stop there. The north Canadian tire gas bar in Regina... Express lane means - Pay at the pump! Well.. I want a receipt for my gas thank you! but, again.. pulling in.. in the city.. with myself and Gwyn(4 years old, must move, not asleep yet). NO RECEIPT PAPER!!!!! AGAIN!!!! Must say.... feel like never ever buying gas there again. I stopped in that lane to not have to go in to pay as I did not want to unbuckle and haul in the wild tired.. even more need to move to stay awake 4 year old!!! Livid. Stupid little things.

Oh well, I think spring might actually be here. The highways were dry. Gwyn slept 99% of the way home(3hr drive). Was pretty fabulous... So, they did not manage to steal my sunshine!

SO THERE!!! LOL LOL

Spill it....

Life feels like it has spilled. Spilled all over the floor and we are running about with our hands trying to contain enough of it to keep going. What the hell is going on  you ask? Well. A LOT! I don't know if there is enough room in blogger to put it all in... mind you.. I better step the hell back and start from December some time? I seem to remember telling you I might have something exciting to tell you. Well. I did. But, It didn't last. Slipped through our fingers like milk running across the table. Anyways, I shall go back there an tell you all about it now. As one can't tell half of something. Especially when I know... there is at least one reader out there who gives a sh*t. And yes, I give a sh*t bout what goes on, over on her side too.

So, back to 2012... our happy, scraping through year... Well, right at the end, I suspected that we may have been successful in our attempts to bring Gwyn a sibling. And so.. we waited and waited and waited.. then we ran out Christmas eve for something and picked up a test. So, Yay!! Happy super stupendious Christmas morning cheer when the test was positive. Yes, at the end of 2012 we were expecting a new baby.. and about James birthday, end of August. Sadly though, this did not last. Nearing the end of January, I miscarried. 2 months in. Pick up and wait to try again.... But, in the midst of this.. I am O negative blood, RH negative. Now only another mother who is RH negative understands what this means. I need to go get shots to keep the baby's blood from infecting my blood with antibodies. So.. Go to emergency.. wait... test blood... wait... refuse shot. You have something weird where baby makes it's own protection for you, go home. Go home. Get called back, you don't have antibodies got to get the shot.. go to emergency.. wait... wait... wait...  I gave 10 vials of blood in 2 days.. then they took like 4 or 6 when I went back to get the shot, so they could send them off to a bigger lab to be examined.. but at least I got the damn shot this time. Found out it was a good thing they gave the shot. Because they found something in the blood mimic ing antibodies... so.. anyways got the shot.. came home... back to the city for ultrasound to make sure all is cleared out... all good.. find bladder infection.. go back to the city treated.. find other small issue.. go back get treated... I need to go back in the summer and make another blood donation for the research of the other lab. Good GAWD!!! For those of you who don't know. I live 260 kms from the city. 2.5 to 3 hours of driving.. one way!!

So trying very hard to stay positive. Sometimes failing miserably. But trying.

The farm... well.. we been farming since we were married and we haven't had a good year yet... that should say it all.. so.. please put that in your prayers for all the farmers who haven't had a good year in the last 8 years to have a good one.... So, add that stress on the pile.

Gwyn, is my ray of sunshine! She is growing in leaps and bounds... every time I turn around she amazes me with something else she can do! Tonight.. she got ready for bed and picked her stories without even having been asked... Amazing!!! Aside from the driving wearing me out.. she is doing fabulous. 3 days I drive her to school 1/2hr and come home, she comes home on the bus. One afternoon I stay in town and we go to gymnastics 10 min from that town, 40 min home. And One morning we go the other way for speech. 40 min there, then hour back to the other town for school.

I am plum worn out of driving if you add the me to the city, and the Gwyn to school. I think because this is the winter that will never end... the storms and nastiness I have driven in this year... good grief!!!

We have a gal that comes works with Gwyn at home once every 2 weeks. So one morning for an hour before we take off for school she comes to work with Gwyn on her speech and such. Which is great!

So in the midst of this, I thought we would get Gwyn a rabbit. For structure. Well we did.. if you read the post below you have seen Thump. He is beautiful. He needs more time running about the kitchen which we are working on.. but he is a nice little bunny.

The puppy(s), well.. James and I were working one tidying the house up for the arrival of the new baby.... because once seeding started that was it.. well after losing baby, I figured might as well still sort it out and put it away and de-clutter. So, we were working in the shed. One afternoon James comes running in the house.. "Call the town office! We have a skunk under the shed!!I heard babies crying!" Some Skunk! Anyways.. they came out and put a trap out.. in the morning it still wasn't sprung. So... closer inspection.. there is no white on that.... It turns out this stray dog crawled under and had pups. So, stray dog, 2 pups. They are in the shed now. Just over 3 weeks old now. So, we have dogs. Not sure how the dog story shall turn out yet but miss Gwyn is very excited about puppies so.. we will see..

So, I think that should catch you up to date. I've spilled it all. So, this mom on the run.. is off to bed.
gnighty.

Long road....

I have been busy doing up some projects for others. :) It's been keeping me busy and out of trouble.
A friend asked if I could make a pair of slippers... she found the style and I dug around and found a pattern. I had some trouble getting the gauge right, but they turned out nice!
My new sister, asked if I would make her a set like Gwyn's hat! Of course!!! So this is the gorgeous set!! Super soft and snug! Warm the second you put them on!
Gwyn's original fuzzy hat went missing on a trip to the city... so I made a new one... we checked back at our stops next trip back to the city and voila the original was found! But miss Gwyn seems to really like this one better anyways(it fits better!)
The same sister who requested the hat, scarf and mitt set did request these as well! They turned out very well. I would make the bottoms on the next ones thicker but they look good!
A crochet bag I whipped up to donate for the bag raffles at the gymnastics year end.
Booties for James cousin.
Newborn baby girl booties I just had to try! They are really cute! Now just to wait for a baby girl to come along.
Gwyn wanted a pair of booties. They turned out well but did not fit her feet all that good.. they should have been bigger in some places and smaller in others.
This, is Thump. Our new addition.
This is Saskatchewan\s highways this winter.
Gwyn is so ready for spring!!
Now this was the picture of our highways Monday March 11. This was a good patch! I sure wish the weather would smarten up! I hate that is gets nasty on my big running days!!!
A crochet backpack.
Our.... stray addition. (more to come)

Gwyn eating Marshmallow and rice Krispie off a spoon after daddy gathered it all up for her! She was pretty tickled!!
Gwyn dressed herself for school. No fight!! Was FABULOUS!! Also let me do her hair!!! NO FIGHT!!! Yay for reward charts!!!
Well now you have a pictoral update. James would like the computer soooooooo... I will give you the whole rundown later! Don't worry, It won't be too terrible long until I post it. I have missed you all.
